This summer, St Philip’s Centre helped bring together women from different faiths and communities through a series of visits, conversations and shared meals.
St Philip’s Centre turned 20 in June and marked the anniversary with a series of events celebrating two decades of supporting interfaith engagement and community dialogue. Founded in 2006, the Centre has grown into a place where people from different faith and belief backgrounds can meet, learn from one another, and build understanding to live well together.
Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Foundation marked the start of the new cricket season with its annual Season Blessing. The event included a multi-faith blessing by religious and community leaders from across Leicestershire, in a service led by the Ven Richard Trethewey, Archdeacon of Leicester, and was a celebration of unity, reflection and community spirit.
The Promoting Unity in our Nation group, chaired by Bishop Martyn, want to hear from church leaders in the Diocese of Leicester about whether political and social polarisation is having an effect in your communities and, if so, what resources you would find useful.
An exhibition celebrating life in Leicester is on display at Leicester Museum. Showcasing the findings from the Living Together oral history project, which has been led by St Philip’s Centre and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this project documents the stories of 103 people who today call Leicester home, but come from a variety of backgrounds.
Bishop Martyn spoke to BBC East Midlands reporter, Jeremy Ball, about building bridges between cultures at Christmas.
Bishop Martyn was recently asked to represent the Church of England at a meeting with the European Commission in Brussels.

Representatives of different faith communities were present, including the new Minister of State for Faith and Communities, Miatta Fahnbulleh, and the new interfaith adviser to the Prime Minister, Dilwar Hussain.
