Welcome to The Call Project – a resource designed to help young people explore faith, gifts, purpose and vocation, and to discover what it might mean to respond to God’s call.
The Call Project is a practical, engaging journey of exploration and discipleship. Through a series of sessions, young people are encouraged to think about who they are, what they’re good at, what matters to them, and how God might be at work in their lives.
It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about asking good questions, listening to God,
discovering more about ourselves and being brave enough to explore where God might be
leading us.
Along the way, The Call Project explores four key areas:
- V – Voice
What do I hear God saying? What are the voices and influences that shape me? - A – Agency
What choices can I make? How can I take responsibility for my faith and my future? - L – Leadership
What gifts and strengths do I have? How might I use them to make a difference? - V – Vocation
Where might God be calling me? What could it look like to live out my faith in everyday life?
Whether a young person feels they might be called to ordained ministry, another form of church leadership, a particular career, or simply to live faithfully wherever God places them, The Call Project creates space to explore the possibilities.

The Call Project is designed to be used with young people by churches, schools, youth groups and others who want to encourage young people to explore Christian vocation and discipleship.

Why Young Vocations? - Read Cam's Story...
I arrived in conversations about Ordination with the Diocese discernment team at the age of twenty one, and very aware of my young age. Without opportunities to explore my vocation as a child and a teenager by serving at toddler groups, children’s clubs, leading youth services, preaching, and eventually leading youth ministries, I would never have had the confidence in my own vocation at that age to put myself forwards for these conversations. Thankfully, the Diocese also believed in me despite my young age, reassured by the amount of opportunities I had already received to test and deepen my specific vocation.
To fulfil your Christian vocation at any age, you need people to believe in you. Vicars, youth workers, congregations, and teachers believed in me as a child and a teenager enough to give me opportunities to serve and lead at church and at school. These opportunities allowed me to imagine myself being called to ordained ministry, without these spaces to discuss and practice service and leadership I may never have discovered God’s vocation for my life.
As a young person somebody has to advocate for you to have space to discover how God is calling you to serve Him. Without those people who advocated for me, it would have been a much longer and more uncertain journey to discover the life God had for me as a Priest in God’s church. Now I have the power to advocate for young people to discover their vocations, giving them space to explore what God might be calling them to.
