A new term means a new listening exercise, and this autumn the Diocese of Leicester is inviting children and young people to share their views on social media through the latest Bishop's Children and Youth Council (BCYC) listening exercise.
We want to hear from as many young voices in the diocese as possible.
Since our termly, youth-led, listening process began we have heard from 1552 young voices across 21 primary, four secondary schools and 17 church groups via nine listening exercises on subjects including prayer, safeguarding, poverty and friendship – and now, social media.
Matt Long, Youth Engagement & Intergenerational Communities Enabler, who leads this initiative said:
“During this Autumn Term 2026, our new listening theme will be social media. We will be exploring the most known and used social media platforms, discussing the impending social media ban and trying out some participatory drawing.
“I’m curious to see what trends and patterns emerge and encourage anyone who works with CYP in any context to shoe-horn this activity into their school council, lunch club, youth group, or Sunday school.”
