Four of our soon-to-be ordained Deacons were licensed as Lay Workers by Bishop Martyn on Wednesday 1 July during a morning service in the Chapel at Bishop’s Lodge.
Joined by their training incumbents and diocesan clergy, Jacob, John, Paul and Cameron, declared their calling to ministry in God’s Church as they go out and serve parishes across the diocese.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the change in timing of ordination services this year, and going forward.
Due to a number of considerations, and in collaboration with the Cathedral, Launde Abbey, the Bishops and the Diocese, the priest and deacon ordinations in the Diocese of Leicester have moved from Petertide to Michaelmas.
Ordinands beginning their deacon year have been licensed as Lay Workers under Canon E7 from 1 July 2026, to help them embed in their parish and move house, giving a more phased build-up to their ordination.
Ordination services for priests and deacons will place in Leicester Cathedral on Saturday 3 October and Sunday 4 October 2026, further details to follow.
