It is with sadness that we announce the death of The Revd Peter Taylor, aged 89, on Monday 10 August 2026.
Peter was ordained in the Diocese of Liverpool in 1982, serving his curacy at Holy Trinity Formby until 1984 when he became Vicar or All Saints Stoneycroft in Liverpool Diocese. From 1991 until 1996, Peter became the Diocese of Liverpool’s Religious Education Field Officer, serving alongside his role as the University Chaplain at St Kath College. Between 1996 and 2009, Peter served as the Diocese of Leicester’s Director of Education, during which time he was also bestowed the title of Honorary Canon at Leicester Cathedral. Peter later served as the Director of Operations for Church Academy Services in the Diocese of Peterborough, until his retirement in 2011. Peter held the Bishop’s Permission to Officiate in this diocese from 2009 until 2026.
He leaves his beloved wife Pam.
Peter’s funeral is to be held at St Mary’s Church Humberstone, on Wednesday 2 September at 12 noon, to which all are welcome.
